Since 1986, Pennwriters has been one of the largest organizations supporting all levels of writers across the state. Its creators launched the organization at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, and its first conference was held at Pitt’s main campus in 1987. This conference now draws crowds of amateur writers to award-winning, best-selling authors from across the state and surrounding states, as well as agents and editors from New York City.
