Pennwriters members may be scattered around Pennsylvania, but the state is divided into sections, or areas, where representatives pass on important club business and help coordinate informational meetings between group members.

Area One 

 

1st Saturday of each month, MVP (Meadville Vicinity Pennwriters), Java Tree Café (217 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA.

1-4 PM. Leader: Janet Wells

 

2nd Saturday of each month, EVP (Erie Vicinity Pennwriters), Whole Foods Coop (1341 West 26th Street, Erie – Intersection of 26th Street and Brown Avenue), 1-4 PM. Leader: Todd Main 

 

3rd Saturday of each month, SVP (Shenango Valley Pennwriters), Community Library of Shenango Valley (Sharon, PA), 1-4 PM. Leader: Catherine E. McLean

 

4th Saturday of each month, EVP, Barnes & Noble (Peach Street, Erie), 1-4 PM. Leader: Todd Main

 

Every Thursday evening, Fellowship Of The Quill (FOTQ) at HOSS’S (3302 West 26th Street, Erie PA 16506), 6:30 - 10 PM.  Leader: Todd Main

Area Four 


Inkwell meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at Marzoni’s Brick Oven and Brewery, 165 Patchway Road in Duncansville, PA. The evening begins with dinner (paid for on your own) at 6:00 p.m. followed by guest speakers or shared readings, beginning at 7:15 p.m.

 

The Inkwell is a group of individuals dedicated to educating and supporting novice and accomplished writers and is open to writers of all levels and genres. During the monthly meetings, the creativity, craft, and business of writing will be emphasized. The Inkwell dinner and presentation are open to all writers, from beginner to published. Membership is not necessary.

Critique structure: Bring 10 copies of up to 5 pages, double-spaced. All genres welcome.

Meets 4th Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. at the New Cumberland Library’s back annex

Area Six 

 

Twin Rivers Writers Group

The group meets at 7 p.m. via Zoom on the third Thursday of the month. Once the COVID crisis ends, face-to-face meetings resume at 7 PM, the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Springtown Fire Company building (3010 PA Route 212, Hellertown, PA). Check their FB page or website: Website

Area Two 


The Danville Critique group meet on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7 p.m. at  Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, 120 E. Market Street, Danville, PA. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be observed. Contact Dave Freas.
 
 Usually we wrap things up by 9 p.m., but that's not a hard and fast time.  And sometimes we don't have work to critique, so we just talk about writing or chew the fat.  We long ago settled on the meetings being pleasant get-togethers, a chance to connect with other writers as well as a chance to get feedback on your work.

SECOND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH MEET-TO-CHAT
Meetings are held on the Second Tuesday of each month from 7 - 9 pm at Panera in Ross Town Center, 7217 McKnight Road.  Come say “Hi!” and enjoy the company and conversation of other local writers. No topics are off the table. Bring your questions, ask for advice, share your query, or first page. You can plan to eat there, indulge in a tasty treat, or simply buy yourself a beverage. The Brainstorming Group - Writers Helping Writers isa gathering of writers to share insights and provide assistance to any writers stuck or needing an opinion, or wants help writing a better story. The group meets every 3rd Thursday of the month and will remain virtual after the pandemic. For information contactJanet McClintok

The Last Thursday of the Month meets at 11:30 at the Cafe in theBarnes & Noble at Settlers Ridge. This is a topic driven meeting. June’s topic: Synopsis writing. For information contact: Annette Dashofy

AREA 3 CRITIQUE GROUPS
Contact the critique group facilitator if you’re interested in knowing the alternative arrangements during this period of social distancing.

Aspinwall Critique Group
Work (up to five pages) to be critiqued is emailed to the group at least one week prior to the meeting, pasted into the body of the email, not attached. Print the critiqued texts and 
bring it with you to the meeting for discussion. The meeting is held on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7 pm at Panera Bread, 942 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 (near Aspinwall) (412) 799-0210. For more information contact Sandra Skowron 

The Pittsburgh East Writer's Group
Small, friendly critique group focusing on fiction. All genres welcome. Meets on the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 to 12:30 in the first floor meeting room at the Monroeville Public Library. Contact Chuck Rakiecz. It is now open to new members.

Critique Group North
Eight members writing shorts, flashes, novels. Meets on the second Thursday of the month at Perkins Restaurant on Route 19 in Cranberry Township from10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., including time for lunch. The group is now at full capacity of eight and is accepting candidates for a waitlist. Writers interested in Critique Group North contact Mary Alice Meli

The Bridgeville Critique Group
Meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 pm at Panera Bread in the Chartiers Valley Shopping Center. Writers of fiction, nonfiction, and at any skill level are welcome. We review one person's work each month. Work to be critiqued is sent least a week in advance. The group is currently full, but keeping a waitlist. Anyone who would like to join, get additional information, or sit in on a session, please contact Barb D'Souza.

Cranberry Township Critique Group
A small group focused on fiction, mainly novels, meets at the Panera in Cranberry every three weeks on Saturdays at 9:30 am. This group has available spaces. For more information contact Amy Wagner 

South Hills Critique Group
A small group meeting one Saturday per month at 10 am in the Galleria of Mt. Lebanon. Work to be critiqued is emailed one week ahead of the meeting. Published/non-published, fiction/non-fiction, and all genres welcome. This group is presently full, but keeping a waiting list. Contact: Rosemary Ray.
