Area Meetings

Pennwriters members may be scattered around Pennsylvania, but the state is divided into sections, or areas, where representatives pass on important club business and help coordinate informational meetings between group members.

Areas

Area One 

 

1st Saturday of each month, MVP (Meadville Vicinity Pennwriters), Meets at Saegertown Area Library and on Zoom.

Noon-3:30 PM. Leader: Janet Wells

 

2nd Saturday of each month, EVP (Erie Vicinity Pennwriters), Meets at the Erie Library Millcreek Branch –Suite 280, 1-4 PM. Leader: Todd Main 

 

3rd Saturday of each month, SVP (Shenango Valley Pennwriters), Currently meeting online, 1-4 PM. Leader: Catherine E. McLean

 

4th Saturday of each month, EVP, Barnes & Noble (Peach Street, Erie), 1-4 PM. Leader: Todd Main

 

Every Thursday evening, Fellowship Of The Quill (FOTQ) is currently meeting on Zoom, starting at 6PM  Leader: Todd Main 

 

1st Monday of each month, CVP (Corry Vicinity Pennwriters) Tim Horton’s 7 E. Columbus Ave., Corry. Leader: Kathy Otten

Area Four 


Inkwell meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at Marzoni’s Brick Oven and Brewery, 165 Patchway Road in Duncansville, PA. The evening begins with dinner (paid for on your own) at 6:00 p.m. followed by guest speakers or shared readings, beginning at 7:15 p.m.

 

The Inkwell is a group of individuals dedicated to educating and supporting novice and accomplished writers and is open to writers of all levels and genres. During the monthly meetings, the creativity, craft, and business of writing will be emphasized. The Inkwell dinner and presentation are open to all writers, from beginner to published. Membership is not necessary.

Area Five 


4th Wednesday Write's Group In-Person

 Bring 10 copies of up to 5 pages, double-spaced. All genres welcome.

Meets 4th Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. at the New Cumberland Library’s back annex

(1 Benjamin Plaza, New Cumberland). Please note:  the group only meets based upon monthly need. Please email Tina if you plan to attend on a given month


York County Critique Group

Area Six 

 

Twin Rivers Writers Group

The group meets at 7 p.m. via Zoom on the third Thursday of the month. Once the COVID crisis ends, face-to-face meetings resume at 7 PM, the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Springtown Fire Company building (3010 PA Route 212, Hellertown, PA). Check their FB page or website: Website

Area Seven


The Round Hill Writers in Virginia meet virtually the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. A critique group of various genres meets on Zoom the first Monday of the month except for on holidays. Contact Terry Friedman for more information.




Area Two 


The Danville Critique group  is meeting at a two locations. They meet atFirst Reform Church of Christ, 301 W. 2nd St. Berwick, PA on the first Wednesday and at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Danville on the third Wednesday. All meetings at 7PM. Contact Dave Freas with any questions.

The Mindful Writers meet every Friday for a write-in at Panera’s, 942 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 (Fox Chapel), from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the backroom. The meeting is opened with a short mindful CD selection, after which people write silently. You can come and leave at any point during this meeting that many Pennwriters attend. The Last Thursday of the Month meets at 11:30 at the Cafe in theBarnes & Noble at Settlers Ridge. This is a topic driven meeting. Always check to make sure the meeting is happening as planned. For information contact: Annette Dashofy
AREA 3 CRITIQUE GROUPS
Contact the critique group facilitator if you’re interested in knowing more about any of these meetings.

Aspinwall Critique Group
Work (up to five pages) to be critiqued is emailed to the group at least one week prior to the meeting, pasted into the body of the email, not attached. Print the critiqued texts and bring it with you to the meeting for discussion. The meeting is held on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7 pm at Panera Bread, 942 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 (near Aspinwall) (412) 799-0210. For more information contact Sandra Skowron

Murrysville Panera’s Group meets every Tuesday at 9 a.m. to work on their current projects and critique work. Contact  Carol Silvis or drop in if you are interested.

Critique Group North
Eight members writing shorts, flashes, novels. Meets on the second Thursday of the month on Zoom  from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., including time for lunch. The group is now at full capacity of eight and is accepting candidates for a waitlist. Writers interested in Critique Group North contact Janet McClintock

The Bridgeville Critique Group
Meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 pm at Panera Bread in the Chartiers Valley Shopping Center. Writers of fiction, nonfiction, and at any skill level are welcome. We review one person's work each month. Work to be critiqued is sent least a week in advance. The group is currently full, but keeping a waitlist. Anyone who would like to join, get additional information, or sit in on a session, please contact Barb D'Souza.

Cranberry Township Critique Group
A small group focused on fiction, mainly novels, meets at the Panera in Cranberry every three weeks on Saturdays at 9:30 am. This group has available spaces. For more information contact Amy Wagner 

All-genre Afternoon Critique Group:
Meets from 2-4 p.m. on Thursdays via Zoom. Work-in progress up to 12 pages must be emailed ahead. Contact Janet Pierce for more information.
