Below is everything you need to know be be part of the In Other Words Contest. This is a perfect chance to try out a different genre and also to read the offerings of your fellow attendees. Prepare your piece ahead of time and enjoy this risk-free and price-free chance.

“IN OTHER WORDS” CONTEST
a.k.a. “On the Wall” Contest
ALLOW YOUR PEERS TO APPRECIATE AND VOTE FOR YOUR WORK
•CATEGORIES: Poetry, Fiction, and Nonfiction. The category for which the entry was submitted must be
indicated on the back of the submission.
•LENGTH: Short and sweet or long and neat. As long as it fits on one side of an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper.
•FORMAT: Typed or handwritten. If it’s legible, it’s eligible. Just make sure it’s dark enough to be easily read once the entry is hung on the wall.
•WORKS must be original and self-contained—not a part of a larger story, article or poem.
•IDENTIFICATION must be on the back of the entry only. If any manner of author identification appears on the front of the manuscript or is visible in any way, the submission will be disqualified.
•TITLE EACH ENTRY on the front of the manuscript. In the case of duplicate titles, numbers will be assigned, e.g. “Dances” 1, Dances” 2, etc.
•PUT YOUR NAME, PHONE NUMBER and EMAIL ADDRESS on the back of the entry only.
•ENTER ONLY ONCE IN EACH CATEGORY.
•ENTRIES WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Do not post your only copy of the manuscript.
The In Other Words Coordinator has the right to disqualify any entry that fails to meet the above criteria.
•A WALL IN OR NEAR THE HOSPITALITY ROOM WILL BE DESIGNATED FOR THE CONTEST. Entries
should be posted under the indicated category.
•BALLOTS WILL BE IN EACH REGISTRANT’S CONFERENCE PACKET. Each category will have its own ballot
color and the ballots will be clearly marked re: category.
•ATTENDEES MAY VOTE FOR ONLY ONE ENTRY PER CATEGORY.
•VOTING ENDS WHEN THE HOSPITALITY ROOM CLOSES ON SATURDAY.
•WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE CLOSING CEREMONIES ON SUNDAY and will receive a
certificate of achievement.
