It’s the time of year for Pennwriters to hold their annual election. Each elected member of the board holds office for two years. This year, four positions are being filled. Susan Gourley has served as the Pennwriters’ secretary since 2015. She earned her undergraduate degree from Lock Haven University and her Masters from Penn State University. She is a long-time member of PW, Area 5, and belongs to RWA. She is published in epic fantasy and science fiction romance where she writes under the pen name, Susan Kelley.
Denise Weaver is a freelance writer, and a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with more than 200 published articles in local and regional magazines. She also serves as copy editor and reader for Hippocampus Magazine. In addition to acting as the Area 4 Representative for Pennwriters, she coordinates and hosts Pennwriters Presents. The former library director recently had an essay published in the anthology, Into the Woods: Stories, Poems, Essays & More, with all proceeds from the sales of the book going to support the research and work of The Children’s Heart Foundation A co-founder of Allegheny Regional Festival of Books, Denise enjoys writing, photography, cooking, and traveling, and once performed on stage at Carnegie Hall. She lives in the beautiful Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania.
Suzanne Grieco Mattaboni is a fiction writer, essayist, and PR consultant based whose work has appeared in Seventeen, The Huffington Post, Mysterious Ways, Guideposts.com, Child, 50 Word Stories, Turtle, Humpty Dumpty’s, and The Best of LA Parent. She’s a past winner of Seventeen magazine’s Art and Fiction Contest and a National Council of Teachers of English Award, and is a former Newsday reporter. Her short fiction, essays, and poetry have appeared in anthologies including “Chicken Soup for the Soul – Miraculous Messages from Heaven,” “The Running Wild Anthology of Stories” (V. 2), “2017 Stories Through the Ages,” “What’s a Nice Girl Like You Doing in a Relationship Like This?” and the “American Anthology of Poetry.” She recently won honorable mention in the Writer’s Digest Writer’s Competition for poetry, and was named a finalist in the New Millennium 2018 Awards. Suzanne has a B.A. in fiction writing from the University of Pittsburgh, studied literature and art at the City of London Polytechnic, and has generated PR coverage for business clients in The New York Times, Bloomberg News, People, Child, The Wall Street Journal, and a host of trade and business journals.Share this:
