Pennwriters Annual General Meeting

President Hilary Hauck called the meeting to order at 8:38 with 96 members in attendance. She welcomed everyone and thanked the members for attending the conference. She thanked the board for helping make sure this 31st annual conference happened. She also thanked past board members who have worked over the years for Pennwriters and thanked the committee chairpersons and volunteers working this year’s event. She gave a special thanks to Leslie Tobin Smeltz and Malissa Close for their tireless work at the 2018 Conference Coordinators.
Secretary Susan Gourley asked members to sign in to the meeting and then asked for a motion to accept the minutes from last year’s general meeting. Jack Hillman motioned the minutes be accepted. Todd Main seconded the motion the membership voted to accept the minutes.
Treasurer Jackie Shaffmaster reported Pennwriters currently has approximately $72,000 in cash assets. About $30,000 in expected expenses for the conference will be paid out of that leaving Pennwriters will around $42,000 in assets going into the new fiscal year which begins June 1st.
Dave Freas, Elections Chair, thanked Mark Boerma and others for their help with the election. He reported a 34% voter participation with Area One have the highest rate at 52% and Area Five with the lowest rate of 26%. He also asked members to make sure to always update their email address for the group. Winners of the 2018 voting were as follows:

Area 3 Rep: Stephanie Claypool
Area 5 Rep: Sandra Bush
Area 7 Rep: Terry Friedman
The announcement of the winner of the President’s Award was postponed until the lunch meeting.
There was no old business to discuss.
The only new business was the 2019 Conference.
Pauline Drozeski announced that she and Hilary Hauck would be the 2019 Conference Coordinators. The 2019 Conference will be held at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott on May 17-19. Jason Jack Miller will be the Saturday Keynote Speaker and Jessica Strawser will be the Friday Keynote Speaker.
Hilary Hauck asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Jack Hillman motioned to adjourn. Kathryn Craft seconded the motion and the membership voted to adjourn.
