Monday, March 27th, Lisa Romeo, a prolifically published writer, editor, and writing professor, will be our guest on Pennwriters Presents. She will address questions on MFA programs, submission strategy, editing, the writing life, and all aspects of creative nonfiction including long and short forms of essay, memoir, narrative nonfiction, humor, freelance journalism, personal essay vs. literary forms, etc. (See Lisa’s bio below.)

Lisa Romeo is a New Jersey writer, editor, and writing professor. Her work has been nominated for the Pushcart and twice for Best American Essays, and is among those listed in the Notables Essays section of Best American Essays 2016. Her articles, essays, and memoir appear frequently in literary journals, mainstream media venues, and anthologies, with hundreds of publications, including the New York Times, O The Oprah Magazine, Inside Jersey, Brevity, Hippocampus, Under the Sun, Word Riot, Front Porch, Sport Literate, Gravel, L’Anne Hippique, The Chronicle of the Horse, Erma Bombeck Writing Workshop, Purple Clover, Babble, Palm Beach Illustrated, Newport Illustrated, Mediabistro, Victoria, NJ Bride, and many others.
Lisa is part of the founding faculty of the Bay Path University (Massachusetts) online MFA program, and periodically also teaches at Montclair State University (NJ). She works as an independent manuscript editor, helping writers polish drafts of novels, memoirs, and essay collections, and as a writing coach, working individually with writers on projects large and small.
Her MFA is from the Stonecoast Program (University of Southern Maine), and she holds a BS in journalism from The Newhouse School (Syracuse University). Lisa previously worked as an equestrian journalist, public relations specialist, PR agency owner, and web news editor.
Lisa serves as creative nonfiction editor for Compose Journal; editor of nonfiction craft essays for Cleaver Magazine; and a review editor of scholarly works for the Journal of Creative Writing Studies.
