Area 1 mini-conference, Erie, October 14, 2017
If you have never attended the “Writer’s Road Trip” (WRT), a one day mini-conference hosted by Pennwriters Area 1, then you’ve been missing out. The event has much to offer: excellent workshops for writers of every level and genre, delicious food and snacks, and the chance to network with other writers and industry professionals up close and personal.
Throughout the day, you have your choice of attending different workshops, covering a wide range of subjects, such as self-publishing, world building, personality types and POV. Small class sizes give the attendee the opportunity to interact with the instructors and ask questions, allowing the presenters to cater to the class’s specific needs. Some of the sessions allow attendees to bring samples of their own work, if they so choose, to be used for instruction. With a total of sixteen workshops taught by some of Pennwriters finest, there truly is something for everyone.
Editor Melanie Billings from Wild Rose Press will be in attendance again this year for pitch/consultation sessions. This was very well received last year and we hope to continue to offer such sessions in the future.
Other fun features include a hot, buffet lunch (with vegetarian options) catered by a popular, local restauranteur, a writing contest judged by your peers, a book sale, author signings, and a raffle with lots of great prizes.
WRT is held every year at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) in mid-October, when the air is crisp and the fall leaves are at their finest. The TREC sits at the entrance of picturesque Presque Isle State Park in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Perhaps, best of all, is the chance to meet other writers, make connections, pick the brains of industry professionals, and simply spend an entire day hanging out with like-minded people. You may meet as strangers, but will surely part as friends.
Plan to come spend the day with us this year. Register here. You’ll be glad you did.
