A Note from Susan Meier, Past President There is no lonelier profession in the world than writing. At least that's what I thought until I found the people who eventually organized into the writers' group, Pennwriters. Because I don't live in New York City, and because I had no direct link to publishers, editors, and agents, I needed a source for industry news and information. But more than that, I needed to find other writers with whom I could discuss the real problems and issues facing each and every one of us trying to break into print. That was ten years ago. Since becoming a part of this group, I have become published in my chosen genre and I have my own connections and links. But Pennwriters is still a valuable source of information and camaraderie for me. Pennwriters is a non-profit organization of over 300 published and aspiring writers from across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the surrounding states. Virtually all writing areas are represented. Some of the benefits of membership include a subscription to The Penn Writer newsletter, access to our membership roster, speaker directory, critique groups, library and research database, area representation on our Board of Directors, the right to participate in our annual contests, and discounts on our annual conference, workshops, seminars, and meetings held throughout the state. Browse through the pages. If you're interested in joining Pennwriters, membership information is included. -Susan Meier, Past President
